Felicia and Julius planned a Seattle wedding even though they had just moved to Atlanta. So far, this couple had one of the biggest wedding party we’ve ever seen. There were 16 people total! Whew!

As a part of our planning package, we also planned the Bachelorette party in Atlanta and the bridal shower party in Seattle. The Matron of Honor was so grateful that we were there to plan the activities that the bridal party was supposed to throw for the Bride-to-be.

“I just want you to know how much it meant to me you taking the lead on the activities planned for Felicia’s Wedding. I could tell, as she also expressed, she was very happy and pleased with the outcome of her day. Your business should be very successful; your (Team’s) professionalism and kindness was greatly valued. I wish you all the best.” – Tia Yarbrough, Matron of Honor.

Bellevue was the perfect city for this couple. It is a very posh and upscale town that clearly represented their personalities. We arranged all of the hotel transportation arrangements. The wedding was at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue and the reception was a 5 minute drive to the Harbor Club Bellevue.

The day of the wedding wouldn’t have been possible if we didn’t have a team of 3! It started early in the morning as our team arrived at the hotel and the Bridesmaids were getting their make-up done and the Groomsmen were getting dressed in their tuxes. We coordinate with the photographer as we set up their “first sight” shots at the lobby of the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bellevue.

While the Bride and Groom were getting their “photo op” at the Hyatt, our team drives to the church to prepare for the arrival of guests and the wedding party. During the ceremony, the entourage perfectly executed what we had rehearsed the day prior. Half an hour before the ceremony was over, one of us had to drive to the reception area and make sure that the decorations were all in place. The reception area looked like heaven on earth with the white roses, the crystals that matched the chandeliers and the glass windows that overlooked a beautiful city. It was a beautiful wedding, and to prove it, they were featured in the 425 magazine! And so were we!

It was a beautiful wedding at the Bear Creek Country Club. Given that the couple was not in town for some of the most crucial times, our team executed with their best interest in mind. She was impressed with the food/menu selection for both her reception and dinner rehearsal. The Luccia’s Restaurant in Kirkland was the perfect ambiance for her wedding entourage. The food and service was exceptional!

Our team also planned the Bridal shower. The guests were impressed by our choice of decorations and the organized games we hosted. The Bride, her mother, and the Bridal party were all very happy to have hired us to plan and host the shower.

The day of the wedding was breathtaking. The ceremony took place underneath a white tent and the altar was placed against a beautiful portrait-like background of the golf course. The aisle was sprinkled with candles in hurricane vases with a canopy green accent. And to the groom’s surprise (and the Bride’s request), we hired a “bag piper” to poke fun but at the same time honor the Groom’s heritage. It was the perfect comic relief of the day.

The reception was held in the main room that was adjacent to the ceremony area. The centerpiece for the tables were either a decorative vase of Calla Lilies or a battery operated water fountain made by the groom himself (how creative!). The food was served buffet style: salmon, baked red potatoes, roasted chicken, seasoned vegetables, roasted ham, etc. It was a wise choice to include as many options as possible.

At the end of the reception, our team stayed to collect all the linens, vases, candles, and other rented materials. One thing that most Brides fail to realize is that there is more to be done on the day of the event than they expect – especially post reception. Having a team of 3 as their event planner definitely helped in taking care of the details even after all the guests depart. We are dedicated to making sure that our clients enjoy the whole night without having to worry about the particulars before, during, and after the event.

How Events in the City, LLC came about.

Like any other company, we have a story to tell. We remember our first meeting like it was yesterday. We sat and pulled out our notebooks and one of us even bought a white board, anticipating to already having something to write on it. It took about 3 hours to get through our goals, our vision and our mission, work ethic, and expectations. What took another hour was deciding what to name our company. All three of us have different personalities, different strengths and weaknesses, different pet peeves, and different preferences. But the one thing we all loved was Sex and the City, hence our decision to name our company Events in the City.

Just like other marketing connoisseurs, we believed in KISS (Keeping It Simple, Stupid). So we decided on a logo of the letter “E” with a diamond attached to it, which we all agreed symbolizes high quality. We chose a black background and gold font as it is the perfect contrast and adds the “glow” we are looking for in a logo.

It came out to be a perfect logo for a perfect team. We have Cheri, who is experienced in weddings and engagements; Tafona, who’s experienced in fund raising and conferences; and Sweeney, whose expertise was in entertainment and red carpet events. What more could we ask for? With patience and the right strategy, we know that we will soon get the respect and the bragging rights of being one of the top, well rounded, event planning companies.
